Every Warrior track athlete is encouraged to keep a record of his or her performances in each event. The primary emphasis in club training and competition is improvement in an athlete's Personal Best (P.B.). Recognition and respect for individuality and personal achievement on the part of coaches, officials, and parents ensures that athletes of all levels of ability make steady progress. The club is proud and pleased that it has contributed to the success of some of Canada's outstanding track and field athletes. We are also proud that it has given many children an opportunity to participate in the sport of track and field in varying levels of competition.
Guidelines to Success: DO Recognize outstanding achievements in competition. Medal winners deserve our applause for their ability and effort. DO Recognize personal achievement. The athlete in fifth place with an improved time, distance or height has achieved a personal accomplishment. We cheer for them just as much.
Training ProgramThe general philosophy of Junior Development (ages 12-19) emphasizes a wide range of skills and promotes improved general fitness, flexibility and co-ordination. Club athletes are introduced to a complete range of track and field events. Athletes, 14 years of age and older can begin to specialize in their track and field interest with the coach's help. The Calgary Warriors track club operates from November 1 through to August 1.
