2007 National Legion Championships Selection Criteria

Spring Training Schedule April 2007 (see also our Calendar):
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6:45 - 8:00 pm at Talisman (times might change)
Mondays 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Saturdays 10:30 am - 12:00 noon: Foothills Athletic Park

March 31 & April 7, 2007 King Frosh Soph and Pomona Pitzer Invitational successful for Warriors!
KING FROSH SOPH High School Meet: Gold medals for Jill MacEachen in the 100m hurdles (an impressive 15.44 over 33" high hurdles in the heats) and long jump, for Rachel Machin in the high jump, for Jean Bolen in the 800m and for the boys 4x100 relay team. Silver for Keaton Matieshin in the 100m (11.39!), Robynne Thompson in the 400m, Rachel M. in the long jump, the 4x100 girls relay team, and bronse for Jill in the 300m hurdles.
POMONA-PITZER INVITATIONAL: Strong personal bests for Koby Hannem in the 400m (51.83), and for Chris Doney and Jean Bolen in the 800m (2:01.70 and 2:20.74 respectively).

March 3-4, 2007 - Provincial Indoor Championships - Edmonton
Jill MacEachen sets a new Provincial Record in the 60m Hurdles

The performance of the weekend goes to Jill MacEachen who won the Juvenile 60 meter hurdles in 9.29 sec, which is a new provincial record for 16 year olds and under. Other gold medals went to Rachel Machin in the 60m hurdles, Kayti Simonson in the 400m and to the 4x200 meter Juvenile Boys (Cam Hunter, Doug Freeman, Mihai Prajea and Keaton Matieshin). Silver medals for Keaton in the 60m, Shil Patel in the triple jump, the 4x200 Junior Men, the 4x200 Junior Women and the 4x400m Junior Women. Bronse for the 4x400m Junior Men.

February 9-10, 2007 - Regina Queen City Kingsmen Indoor Classic

We had several great performances in our first trip to Regina. Rachel Machin won two gold medals in the 60m Hurdles and High Jump, and two bronse medals in the 60 and 200 meter Midget Girls. Cam Hunter and Keaton Matieshin kept up their battle in the 60m Juvenile boys, Cam keeping Keaton off again, this time just by 1/100 of a second. Jill MacEachen won the 60m Hurdles and won a silver in the Long Jump with a Personal Best of 4.88m. A win for Mihai Prajea in the 1500m and for our juvenile Boys 4x200m team (Cam, Doug Freeman, Mihai and Keaton), silver medals for Matt Brideson in the triathlon and 200m, Jean Bolen in the 800m and 1500m, Cam Hunter in the Long Jump, Koby Hannem in the 400m, Mihai in the 800m and Claire Brideson in the High Jump. A bronse for Shaina Humble in the 400m. Congratulations to all on a great meet and many Personal Bests.

January 19-21, 2007 - Golden Bear Meet, Edmonton. Several TOP performances. Hunt for Club Records has begun.

Cam Hunter broke the Juvenile 16 year olds indoor club record in the 60m that was previously held by William Stanley (7.40, 2003). After running 7.38 in the heats, Cam won the final in 7.35, beating Keaton Matieshin by 15/1000 of a second. Keaton's 24.14 in the 200m is a new club record as well, beating Brad Gerber's 24.07 handtime of 1996 (24.07 handtime equals 24.31 electronic).

Jill MacEachen broke the indoor club record in 60m Hurdles (Juvenile 16 year olds) with a time of 9.49. The old record was held by Whitney Evans (9.69, 1996).

Mihai Prajea shattered the indoor club record Juvenile 16 year olds in the 800m with a time of 2:03.65 (previously Ryan Russell: 2:07.06, 2004), and so did Jean Bolen in the Juvenile 16 Year old girls: 2:23.93 (previously 2:41.0, Carly Anderson, 1999).

Mark MacEachen's 1.65m in the high jump will get into the books as a club record as well (Midget 14 year olds).

January 13, 2007 - Dino Classic.

22 races entered, 18 personal bests. Koby Hannem sets a new club record in the Junior 300m with a time of 37.47.

Our Winter Training is in full swing at Talisman Centre, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:45 p.m. and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. We have about 25 registered athletes, the club is looking for about ten more athletes who are interested in track and field (grades 8 - 12). If you are interested in competing in track in the 2007 year please contact Al Holm at 257-2733.
